Where this command is found:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28–30

Are you tired of living for yourself and doing things your way? Do the burdens of your heart and mind weigh you down, stealing your joy and peace? Are your relationships with others strained due to the business of life and the insurmountable responsibilities you have? Come to Jesus and take His yoke!

\But what does a yoke have to do with finding peace and rest? The answer does not lie within the yoke itself, the answer is found in the One that you can be yoked too. Jesus’ command in Matthew 11:28-30 is to come to Him, take His yoke, and learn of Him! Why? He is our peace. He is our rest. He is the Son of God Who has made a way for us to live in a right relationship with God!

Walking yoked to Christ looks like submitting your life, surrendering your will, and yielding your heart to Him. When you do so, He lives the Christian life through You by the power of His Spirit. God never designed you to live apart from a personal and intimate relationship with Him. The command to Take My Yoke is an invitation to exchange your life for Christ’s and allow Him to have complete control over you. True peace, rest, and joy can only be found in an abiding and intimate relationship with Jesus!
